Meet at Diaz Lake County Park parking lot on Hwy 395 just south of Lone Pine. 9am-1pm. Space is limited so please RSVP here!

This will be a drive, stop, look around trip with little walking. Wear layers; bring a hat, water, food, sunscreen, binocs, scope. Unpaved surfaces, but all vehicles are fine. Expect to see a good diversity of shorebird and waterfowl species.

Fall shorebird migrants are traveling from the Arctic Circle, where they nested, to Central and South America for our winter. Saline lakes in the western U.S. and Canada are critical stopovers for rest and fattening up. Species include Western and Least sandpipers, Greater Yellowlegs, American Avocets, Black-necked Stilts, White-faced Ibis, Long-billed Curlew, Mallard, Gadwall and Cinnamon Teal.
