And what’s that bird strutting on our shirts? We’re so glad you asked. That is a Bi-State Sage-Grouse—genetically the same as a Greater Sage-Grouse, but living only in an isolated range that spans eastern California and western Nevada. Sage-grouse depend on healthy sagebrush and wet meadows, making this bird an iconic symbol of the Great Basin habitats in the Eastern Sierra. Thanks to Ava Ciaccia for capturing this grouse so beautifully.
