LOCAL BIRD LISTS
A complete checklist of Inyo County birds is available below. This list was put together by North American Birds sub-regional editors for Inyo County, Tom and Jo Heindel.
The Mono Lake Committee has recently (2025) put together four new checklists for Mono County, including a Breeding Season Birds Trifold, Fall Migration Trifold, Winter Birds Trifold, and Spring Migration Trifold.
Friends of the Inyo hosts an annual Owens Lake Bird Festival in partnership with the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power every year in the Spring. The Owens Lake Important Bird Area checklist, also put together by Tom and Jo Heindel, is available below. The Owens Valley Committee also has a list of Owens Lake birds (updated 2022) as well as a list of some common birds by habitat.
